Thank you for your interest in this vital leadership role here at Bridgend County Borough Council.
Bridgend County Borough is a great place to live and work. It occupies an enviable position between Swansea and Cardiff, and stretches from the scenic valleys to our beautiful coastline – presenting easy access to urban centres as well as picturesque rural and coastal settings. As a result, there is something for everyone here, and plenty to do all year round.
It is also a place where you can expect to be met with both complex challenges and great opportunities. We’re embarking on a new era of public services that requires a different dialogue with our residents, encouraging communities to be more self-reliant as we make decisions around how the council invests its resources. Partnership working is becoming an ever-more important element of how we work, combining resources and skills across the public sector to simplify access for customers and reduce the costs of delivery.
This role will be at the centre of it all – working in partnership with colleagues across the Council to embed high quality financial analysis and recommendations into key decisions. You can expect to be deeply involved in supporting the Chief Executive and the Cabinet to shape the Council's recovery plan in response to COVID-19. Much has changed, and at great pace, so we want to ensure that the Council responds positively to these changes and can adapt its services to the new environment that we find ourselves in; and a key part of that will be successfully aligning budgets and resources to meet existing and emerging priorities.
Through early involvement in planning and evaluating new initiatives, you will be able to add value by asking the right questions, bringing an alternative professional perspective to the table. The right person for this role will also be a highly effective leader of people, who can encourage innovation from within and who is continually looking outside of the organisation to learn from others. We want someone to join our leadership team, who can contribute to the council’s corporate agenda, and build a thorough understanding of the demands and opportunities across all our key services.
The council has engaged Solace in Business to support us in making this appointment. I encourage you to contact them on 020 7976 3311 to find out more.
Good luck in your application.
